DAY FORTY — EMPTINESS · LUMINOSITY · KNOWING

The fortieth morning.
The sky was so clear the light seemed to fall straight to the earth.

The young man sat beneath the bodhi tree—
the place he had sat throughout the journey.

But today, he was no longer “meditating.”

He simply sat.

His breath was so light it barely felt like breathing.
His mind so still it no longer felt like stillness.

Everything became transparent—
as if the world were made of light.

The teacher approached.

“What are you seeing this morning?”

The young man answered, his voice like a bell in the mist:

“I… don’t know how to name it.

I see everything is empty.

But within that emptiness… there is a luminosity.

And within that luminosity… there is a knowing.

Not ‘I know.’

Just Knowing.”

The teacher smiled.

“Good.

Today you’ve touched:

Emptiness — Luminosity — Knowing.”

He explained:

“Emptiness means no inherent nature.
Nothing stands alone.
Nothing is fixed.

But if you see only emptiness,
you fall into a void.

Therefore, within emptiness there is luminosity.

Luminosity is the capacity to appear.
Because of luminosity, the world manifests.
Because of luminosity, you see.
Because of luminosity, all phenomena function.

But if there is only luminosity,
you get lost in appearances.

Therefore, within luminosity there is Knowing.”

He placed a hand on the young man’s chest.

“Knowing is not ‘I know.’
Not thought.
Not emotion.
Not effort.

Knowing is pure awareness—
without knower,
without known.”

The young man closed his eyes.

Inside, he saw:

thoughts arising in Emptiness,
emotions arising in Luminosity,
and all of it known by Knowing.

No thinker.
No feeler.
No seer.

Only Emptiness–Luminosity–Knowing
moving as one living stream.

Inside him, Jiddu Krishnamurti’s words echoed:

“When the observer is gone, only the light of awareness remains.”

The teacher stood up.

“Come.

Today, as you walk, feel this:

each step arises from Emptiness,
is illuminated by Luminosity,
and is known by Knowing—
but there is no one walking.”

The young man followed him.

His first step touched the earth—
and he felt as if he were walking in a transparent world
where everything was empty,
yet in that emptiness,
everything was bright, clear, naturally known.

This morning, he no longer sought anything.
No longer wanted to achieve anything.
No longer wanted to become anyone.

Because he had seen:

Emptiness — Luminosity — Knowing
were always already here.

Not to attain.
Not to keep.
Not to understand.

Only to see.
