DAY 59 — NIGHT: THE LIGHT IS NOT IN THE HERMITAGE

Written in

bởi

The night before leaving the hermitage.

The young man lay on the bamboo bed, eyes open, unable to sleep.

Not because of worry.
But because something inside him was glowing —
soft, warm, spacious.

He remembered what the teacher said after dinner:

“The light is not in the hermitage.”

That sentence followed him into the night,
like a small flame burning quietly in his chest.

1. Jiddu: “Truth is not in any place.”

He recalled a sentence from Jiddu:

“Truth is not in any place.”

Not in the hermitage.
Not in the mountains.
Not in the teacher.

The hermitage only ignited the light —
it did not contain the light.

2. The hermitage is only a condition — not the source

The hermitage helped him become quiet.
But quietness was not created by the hermitage.

Quietness is the nature of the mind,
only covered by life.

If tomorrow he leaves and the light disappears,
it means the light never belonged to him.

3. Jiddu: “When you see clearly, you carry the light with you.”

Another sentence arose:

“When you see clearly, you carry the light with you wherever you go.”

True light does not depend on conditions.
Not on the teacher.
Not on the mountains.

Once he has seen,
he can bring the light into:

· the city
· work
· relationships
· conflict
· the busiest days

True light does not need a place to exist.

4. The hermitage is only the beginning

He remembered his journey:

· seeing the self
· seeing fear
· seeing the past
· seeing reaction
· seeing truth

But all of this
was not so he could stay in the hermitage forever.

The hermitage was the beginning.
Life is where the real practice happens.

5. The light is in the seeing

He looked out the small window.

The night sky was still as water.

He understood:

The light is not in the place he stayed.
The light is in the seeing that lives within him.

He smiled in the dark:

“The light is not in the hermitage.
The light is in the one who leaves it.”

6. Practice: see every place as a hermitage

Before sleeping, he remembered the teacher’s words:

“Every place you go can be a hermitage.
Not because the place is quiet,
but because your mind is bright.”

In the market → that is a hermitage.
At home → that is a hermitage.
In conflict → that is a hermitage.
In the city → that is a hermitage.

The hermitage is not on the mountain.
The hermitage is in the luminous mind.
