Not outsourcing your seeing — walking with your own lamp
I. What is inner freedom?
Not isolation.
Not practicing alone.
Not rejecting tradition.
Inner freedom means:
not handing your insight to anyone else.
II. Why lay practitioners easily lose inner freedom
• Too much trust in teachers
• Too much dependence on the Sangha
• Too much reliance on methods
• Too much attachment to scriptural language
This is attachment, explored in non‑attachment.
III. Inner freedom does not oppose anyone
You still listen to teachers.
You still learn Dharma.
You still practice with the Sangha.
But you see for yourself.
IV. Inner freedom is the foundation of “come and see”
No one can see for you.
No one can understand for you.
No one can liberate you.
V. Conclusion
Inner freedom is your lamp.
The Sangha is the surrounding light.
You need both.
